ENGLISH EDUCATION TARGETS (CEF)

English as a foreign language is progressively becoming an essential tool of everyday life in our modern times. Twenty years ago English may have been enough to simply apply for a job or work in international business, but today the influence of the English language can be seen almost everywhere.
The CEF (Common European Framework), which was enacted by the European Council in 2007, was adopted in order to clearly and concisely state the educational guideines of teaching foreign languages for all EU countries. At ICHC, we have restructured our educational programs in order to meet all European Union standards and in accordance with Romania's bid for worldwide interaction.
As the English department of ICHC, we are proud and enthusiastic to enact these stringent guidelines simultaneously with other EU countries.
These standards and guidelines contain different skills, language focus and targets for each level. ENGLISH SUMMER SCHOOL, ENGLAND

Every year, students as well as teachers of the English Department of ICHC attend a special summer school in England. in July 2010, a group from our school attended a summer school program by one of the three best summer schools organizations in England; Oxford Vision. For two weeks, Eleven students ranging from grades five to eight attended this summer school at East London University in London. In addition to English lessons for twenty hours a week, students participated in various sports, cultural and artistic activities. While not in session, our program also incuded tours around England giving students the opportunity to visit important historical, touristic and cutural destinations.
The program was extremely beneficial to our students as they were regulary able to practice their newly acquired knowledge, became acquainted with different people and cultures, as well as explored new and interesting places. Overall it was a very positive experience, and all the students who took part in this program expressed their overwhelming approval. After summer school finished and the regular school year began, the students that were involved in this program immediate showed a renewed enthusiasm for the English language that other many other students seemed to lack. Furthermore, they appeared to have a heightened self confidence in the classroom further proving that these types of programs are very beneficial for our students.
We hope to continue the success of our English Summer School Programs in the summer of 2011.
